What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy accesses the power of your awareness to live a more harmonious life.

How does transpersonal hypnotherapy work?
You will be guided into a state of deep physical and mental relaxation which reduces any stress or tension. In this relaxed state you are more open to your experiencing and to deep self-acceptance and transformation.

While in hypnosis you will still be aware of your surroundings and you can choose to come out of hypnosis at any time. You will be able to speak and move and will be in control of what is happening to you. At the end of the session you will be gently returned to a normal waking state.

Hypnotherapy helps you to become more aware and to accept yourself
Hypnotherapy is a gentle process of getting to know yourself at a deep level. In a state of relaxation you will be guided by your own inner wisdom to become more aware of what you are carrying from the past and what you wish to let go of. This may be unhelpful habits habits and phobias. These occur because of difficult experiences we have not been able to come to terms with. When we feel bad we will often reach for food or cigarettes or alcohol, or we carry out repetitive rituals. We may also avoid the situation that bothers us to such an extent that we can develop a phobia (a fear of water or of flying for instance). However we may not remember the initial sensitising event - the event that triggered the difficult feelings underlying the habit or phobiav- and may not know what exactly is making us anxious, afraid or perhaps angry. We may not even realise how we feel because eating, drinking and activity can help suppress the feelings.

Creating better outcomes with hypnotherapy
Hypnosis helps you go back to the initial event that caused the unwanted behaviour so that your mind, and in some instances your body, can heal. Hypnosis can desensitise you around the triggering event so it no longer affects you. Rossi (1996) suggests that the profound changes that can come about during hypnosis may lead to positive long term changes in brain chemistry.

Developing your inner guidance
Transpersonal hypnotherapy in particular gives you the opportunity to pay attention to your inner wisdom and develop a strong inner guidance system so that you know what you want and are open to intuitive insights about how to achieve it. This process is akin to Gendlin's "Focusing" and allows your own process of self-actualisation to guide you into fuller experiencing and a richer life.

Achieving your potential through hypnotherapy
Hypnosis can also improve learning, concentration, presentation skills and enhance your creativity. It is not just about overcoming problems but also about becoming all you can be so you can feel fully alive and reach your full potential.

Regression Therapy
Regression Therapy allows you to re-experience and heal painful events that are still resonating with you today and may be limiting your potential.

When we experience abandonment, loss and other traumas, particularly in childhood, the conscious mind does not properly process the feelings involved. It is as if we are "put on hold" until such time as we can cope with healing the effect the incident, or relational trauma has had on our lives. This means that the difficult feelings associated with the trauma can be triggered again, causing us to limit our lifestyle to avoid the events that trigger them. Hence memories of traumatic events can be stored in the mind below the level of conscious awareness. They can continue to impact us in so many ways. We may feel awkward in social situations, or feel unable to trust a partner, or we may find asserting ourselves and knowing what we want difficult.

Regression therapy enables the conflicts from the past that have been distorting our mental, emotional and physical well-being to be resolved. A phobia or PTSD (post traumatic stress)may stem from childhood traumas or a life-threatening incident. This is often not caused by a one-off incident, but often by years of difficult relational experiences when we are growing up. The symptoms may include panic attacks, emotional outbursts, blocked feelings, self harm, numbness, unexplainable physical pain (particularly back pain) or recurring relationship problems.

The therapy works by going to the root of the problem and asking the unconscious mind, in a state of relaxation, what most needs healing right now. Our inner awareness then chooses an incident, or series of incidents that we are ready to heal. In some cases body therapy is used to transform the impact of the incident(s) in a way that is both safe and structured. This can bring about deep and lasting change as old traumas are healed and life energy can be used in more positive and proactive ways. You can then move on and achieve what you want to achieve without feeling held back.

Sometimes the root cause of things that are troubling us originates in a past life experience. Physical tensions, chronic pain or emotional vulnerability may stem from an incident which occurred in a former life. As the soul incarnates into life after life these traumatic memories can have echoes in our current life, causing symptoms that may make little sense, and keeping us from living peaceful lives. We may experience them as anxiety, panic attacks, anger, depression, phobias, obsessions, nightmares and unexplainable physical pain. Since behavioural patterns tend to transfer from one life to the next, past life regression can bring about a healing that resonates into our present life. It can bring about profound change.
